Chromebox Reset Instructions

  1. Attach a wired USB keyboard to the device
  2. Turn off the Chromebox
  3. Put a paperclip (or pushpin) into the recovery button hole
    1. NOTE: The recovery button hole is the small, circular hole below the larger, oval-shaped hole
  4. Press down the recovery button with a paperclip while turning on the device
  5. Press Ctrl+D at the OS Recovery screen
  6. Press the recovery button with the paperclip again and the device will restart and display a red exclamation point
  7. Press Ctrl+D again and the Chromebox will restart and transition to Developer mode which clears all local data
    1. NOTE: During the process, you'll see a note that developer mode is blocked because this is a managed device which shortens the wipe process, and still allows for re-enrollment when the device automatically restarts in Verified mode
  8. At the startup screen, press the space bar, and then press Enter to restart the device and return to Verified mode
  9. After the device restarts, do not sign in and select Browse as Guest if prompted
  10. Connect the device to your WiFi network and accept the Terms and Conditions
  11. Login to the Chromebox with your personal/business Gmail account
  12. The RenArk app will install automatically and if it does not, please restart the device
Requirements for Existing Chromeboxes:
  1. Outdated or obsolete hardware is typically two (2) to three (3) years or older and may not work as noted above and may not support App updates
  2. Storage: Min 128 GB and above
